Good Bye Friends

Actually, I don't know where, when or how I'm going to be in the next years.  It is something what I'm still thinking right now.  The only thing that I know it is I'm going back to my country next month and my return to Canada is uncertain.  So, I don't have enough information to share with my readers, I'm sorry.  But I'm going to try keeping my blog working so maybe we can keep communicating with you guys.  I'm going to miss the Writing class with all of you guys, I should confess, despite the hard moment I had in writing class, it became my favorite class.  I'm really glad for attended to the ESL program.  I learned a lot.  Thanks to Julie and my other teachers for being patient and their dedication and you guys for your friendship.  I wish you the best for everyone and many blesses.

BBC - Travel - Underwater volunteer vacations : Eco-tourism

I found so interesting this article about being a tourist and volunteer at the same time.  This innovative program allow some people participate in the scientific research while they are exploring the nature into the ocean.  Many organizations such as Reef Environmental Foundation (REEF), an Australian nonprofit group (DIVO), Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF) and the Hawaii's Kaanapali Makai Watch offer training to volunteers to teach them what they can do during their visit.  Can you imagine having the opportunity to be part of a scientific research, helping and  learning to conserve our planet.  It will be an amazing experience.
Animals, plants and every living thing have a purpose in this world.  Some of them become in our food, others give us oxygen, and others show us its beauty and majesty, making  us feel good and alive, coexisting with them.  It is important to know that we have just one planet where to live and if don't care it, soon, our planet will be disappear and we will with it.

Tourism

I would like to start giving the definition of Tourism according to Wikipedia.  Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people "travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes". 
Yes, my home country Peru have many tourism places such as ruins, beaches, rivers and lakes, antique architecture, wildlife and different climates allowing you to do outdoor activities  like snowboarding, hiking, Trekking, kayaking and more Peru is considered one of the tourism destination to should be visited because of the different kind of landscape and exotic places it has.  The most famous attraction in Peru is the Historic Sanctuary of "Machu Picchu" considered one of the New Seven Wonder of the World.
I think the most popular type of tourism people prefer is the experimental travel and adventure trips.
We can find tourism in everywhere.  Every country has beautiful places to visit.  In my case, I've just done one tourism trip and it was when one of my friend got married in Cancun - Mexico two years ago.  I fell in love of it with its scenic beaches.  It was amazing. 
Tourism is an exciting adventure we can have.

Controversial "Lady Pens"

The commercial about the "Lady Pen" product from BIC pen was hilarious to me.  When I started watching it, I thought is one of the many mocks Ellen likes to do for fun and it was with the peculiarity that product exists in the real life. I didn't know it until now.  I didn't identified me with this product so doesn't bother me.  I think, Bic company tried to do something different to catch the attention of female customer but they didn't considered it could have a negative answer from them.  Unlike me, some ladies got upset with this product probably because of the nice color (pink and purple) it should be just for ladies making feel like girls are superficial without intelligent unable to think and feel.  In my opinion, the BIC company should stop making this product if they don't want to lose money and the most important "Customers".

Gender Roles

Gender Roles are a group of rules behavior designed for a specific gender like male or female.  Actually, gender roles exist most in the Middle East countries but I don't think it doesn't happen in Peru.  Since I was a child, I have been able to see both men and women sharing responsibilities in all aspects of their life and children grown up with that concept so, when they become in adults they don't think men are not able to do things that just woman can do it or conversely, but there are exceptions.  Proof of this, some countries have a woman as a president, a position where for long time was just for men.  Then men who are nurses, Flight Attendants  or children's entertainers. But sometimes the motive is not just they want it to do, it could be by neediness.  For example, a few weeks ago, I saw in a Peruvian News, women working building houses.  The reason was because they need to make money to bring at home.
I picked out this question, I think it is a good one:  Someone is talking about their doctor. Do you think their doctor is male or female?  Well, if  I'm talking in English I don't know who could be so, in my case I wonder if is male or female, I don't automatically think the exact gender because in Spanish grammar is different, specially to identify the gender. In Spanish grammar, we use the letter A for female to make the differences between male and female.

Examples: 

Doctor (for male)    Doctora (for female) 

Enfermero (male nurse)     Enfermera (female nurse)

Profesor (male teacher)  Profesora ( female teacher)

See the differences so, we don't have problems to identify genders.  Interesting eh?  Otherwise, Airin and Jose won't let me lie.
To conclude with this post I think, both men and women have the same intelligence and physical abilities, some more than others, and that has already been proven.  Here some video to proof my samples.

Post #5: Halloween

Well this last Halloween was not really fun for me.  First I couldn't go to Halloween Party that day because I had to work, then took me almost three hours to go home when normally take me no more than two hours, and my feet almost frozen because we had windchill that night it was cold, but despite of that I was able to have a free coffee at the Starbucks, so it was not too bad.  But no all the years are bad for me.  In the last four years, me, my friends and their children used to go to the malls or around their houses to ask for candies enjoy watching the exotic costumes people wear.  It is pretty funny see how many people strive to decorate their house as eccentric as they can.  In Peru we don't put too much attention doing that.  We just celebrate in our houses or in some public places but not at all so, it is not common find children wearing costumes on the streets.  I know it is kind a bored.  Halloween is used more in TV programs.  Predictions?, we know about it but we don't believe in those.   In fact, we are divided between two celebrations.  One is Halloween and the other one it is The Day of our Traditional Music "Dia de la Cancion Criolla" we call that.  Those events take place at the same day and the day after is "The Day of the Death" and it is a statutory holiday for us.  That is why is not too strong the Halloween concept in my country.

Cat Week!!!

I found this video with a funny, curious and why not say smart cat.  In this video is from Helen's show that has made it on October of 2011, a little bit old but really funny.  Well in the display shows  two different cats.  The first one is trying to beat a hairdryer and second one is a good finder.  I am not going to say more, so watch it by yourself and comment if want or not. I know is not part of the class but just to escape from the routine.  I hope you enjoy it.
